This Procedure is applicable to all electrical item installation activities at site, which are to be installed on the [PROJECT TITLE & LOCATION].To ensure that all electrical installation is carried out safely, and in accordance with good working practice, as per [PROJECT TITLE & LOCATION], job specifications. This procedure is intended to provide general application guidance and establish controls during preparation and installation.

Duct Bank Installation

1. Verify location and routing of duct bank prior to any excavation.

2. Excavation should be done in accordance with an approved Procedure for Earth Excavation.

3. Ensure that sub-grade preparation was already completed and ready for duct bank installation.

4. Install the duct ensuring the sizes, types, positions, lengths, and elevations including straight and curved runs are in accordance with IFC drawings and specifications.

5. The top of the duct bank should be at a minimum of 18 inches below grade.

6. Duct bank should be constructed of either hot dipped galvanized rigid steel conduit or PVC conduit, whichever of this two as per specified on IFC and typical drawing including its sizes. 

7. Conduit runs in duct banks should be made continuous by the used of couplings. Jointing of conduit components should be in accordance with Conduit Installation Procedure para 5.3. Suitable conduit connectors should be used as per OWNER specifications & standards.

8. Install no more than the equivalent of four 90º bends between full joints and provide suitable fittings to accommodate expansion and deflection where required.

9. Install spacer to provide a minimum separation between conduits of 1 inch for conduits 1.5 inches or smaller and 2  inches for conduits of 2 inches or larger. The spacer should be placed at intervals of approximately 8 ft.




10. The concrete encasement should extend a minimum of 3 inches from any conduit in the bank to the outside surface.

11. Top layer of concrete on duct bank should be mixed with recommended ratio of red dye.

12. Snake and swab the duct. Install suitable caps to protect installed ducts against dirt and moisture.

14. Submit “Request For Inspection” (RFI) to site QC section.

15. Concrete pouring should be performed after being inspected and accepted by QC. Concrete pouring should be in accordance with an approved procedure.

16. Concrete curing is then to be followed and should be performed in accordance with an approved procedure.

17. A nylon pull line of sufficient strength should be left in place after the duct is cleaned.

18. Backfilling should be performed in accordance with an approved procedure.

19. Ensure that all activities involved are completed, has been inspected by authorized personnel in accordance with project ITP.
