This Procedure is applicable to all electrical item installation activities at site, which are to be installed on the [PROJECT TITLE & LOCATION].To ensure that all electrical installation is carried out safely, and in accordance with good working practice, as per [PROJECT TITLE & LOCATION], job specifications. This procedure is intended to provide general application guidance and establish controls during preparation and installation.
Cable Trench Installation
1. The concrete encasement should be done by Civil Engineering Team following all standard details and specifications, and as what IFC drawings specifies.
For Low Voltage Cables
2. The bottom tier of cables in trenches should be installed on a 75mm minimum layer of sand or selected screened fill materials.
3. For multi-tier cable trenches, a 150mm minimum layer of fill materials should be provided between cable tiers. To clarify further, in-between the top and the bottom of two respective layer cables should be filled with 150mm minimum of sand.
4. The process would be the same in para 3 in more than two cable tiers inside a trench.
5. For trenches have concrete side walls, the top tier of cables should be 150mm below the bottom of the trench covering. The space between the top tier of cables and the cover should be completely filled with sand or selected screened materials.
For Low Voltage Cables

6. Only a single tier of medium voltage distribution cables should be allowed in below grade trenches. These cables should be installed on a 75mm layer of sand or selected screened fill. The horizontal spacing or separation between cables should be a minimum of 200mm, and to be filled with sand or selected screened fill.
7. Trench location should be indicated by red concrete warning markers placed at 30m intervals along the trench and at changes of direction.
8. Submit “Request For Inspection” (RFI) to site QC section.
